It’s not really possible to show all of the other works by Miss Augur due to the sheer number of pieces, works held in private collections, unknown pieces, etc.
The few examples on this page do show that she favored the old American West and Southwest more than any other subject.
I’ve yet to find any of her sculptured pieces, but will continue the search.
These four pieces above were part of Ruth’s submission to the WPA for the Austin, TX, State House. While she did not get that commission, she did get the contract for the Garfield County Courthouse in Enid, OK, shortly afterwards. On some of these, she has written where in the mural the works would be painted.
The pieces below were painted before 1934, and further demonstrate Ruth’s love of the ‘old west’.
This drawing below may have been part of the submission for the WPA contract at the Garfield County Courthouse in Enid, OK.
Without a doubt, at the least, it is a sketch she was working on as part of the larger mural she ended up designing and painting on the NW wall of the 1st floor.
Ruth painted countless portraits over the decades, teaching portraiture, and forming art groups.
Self Portrait. Probably in the time before the courthouse murals, 1931-1933.
